White Space Answers

Three resources designed to support First Choice SFP members write first-class Specialised Foundation Programme White Space Answers.

Resource 1. Drafting your White Space Answers

This section gives the 10 essential principles to approach your white space content. We recommend that you review this section regularly while drafting your ‘white-space answers’ to score maximum points. These are referred to through to the White Space Question Bank.

Resource 2. White Space Question Bank

In 2022, the White Space Questions have been standardised across all academic Units of Application.

Download the questions here.

Our question bank includes all detailed answer guides for *ALL* questions included in the 2022/23 application round. We present a detailed First Choice SFP strategy for response, including over 300 example answers from successful applicants.

You can draft responses to these questions based on your CV and experience in the ‘My answers’ sections at the bottom of each question page, save and edit these, then print or download them for your reference during your submission of White-Space Answers.

Resource 3. Academic achievements & portfolio

Here we describe top tips to score maximum points in the 'Academic achievement' section of your SFP application.

This resource also provides guidance on structuring and building your academic portfolio. This resource may be the most fundamental of all sections contained within the First choice SFP resources, as it underpins not only your preparation for SFP interviews but also for your future integrated clinical-academic career.

Whilst only a few UoAs require applicants to bring a full portfolio to the interview, this resource will help you to structure your development plan, highlight areas in need of development, and prioritise your remaining time before your interview to 'plug gaps'.

Use our First Choice SFP Traffic light system to grade your achievements within each area aligned to the Academic Foundation programme Person Specification, and track your improvement over time.
